Hi parents! The time has come for you to commit to a winter of netball.
If you want your child to play Winter Netball for Ōwairaka this year please click on the link and complete the form by Friday 14 March. This is not the actual registration form, you will receive information about registration once the teams have been made.
If your child played Winter Netball in 2024 you will have received a re-registration email but you still need to fill in this form for me to put your child in a team. You will not, however, have to fill in the full online registration.
If you have questions please email mmudgway@owairaka.school.nz or comment below.
Earlier this week our two touch teams represented Ōwairaka at the Eden Albert Touch Tournament. The Boys A team played really well but couldn’t come up with a win from their 4 games. The Boys B team, which included 4 girls, won 1 game and drew 1 game. Thank you to George for coaching the teams at lunchtimes and to Eti and Rua who helped coach at the tournament. Thanks also must go to the mums who helped transport the teams on the day.
Team A: Oscar, Freddie, Harper, Kaea, Nathan, Orlando, Toby, Jack, Saimone
Team B: Dolores, Lilymaina, Quinton, Johnson, Rio, Micaiah, Kobe, Muhammad, Mission
On the 27 February a team of 12 Year 5 & 6 swimmers attended the Eden Albert Swimming comp.
Our team showed a lot of manawanuitanga leading up to event by training daily during their morning tea break. Each student set their own goals, from being able to perform a diving start to improving their breathing and speed. I was very impressed at their commitment.
Mrs Landall accompanied the team to the event and she was very impressed at the way our students represented our school in the pool as well as out of it. Even though no-one from Ōwairaka made the finals everyone gave it their best.
Well done everyone!
Year 5: Santiago, Charly, Zoe, Charlotte, Emily,
Year 6: Phoenix, Riley, LJ, Connie, Jade, Beatrice, Tuhilani

When registering please read the instructions carefully. Our school group is called ŌWAIRAKA DISTRICT SCHOOL. We welcome past students as well as present students to our team each year.

Our last Eden Albert event for 2024 has come and gone. This year we sent a talented group of athletes to compete against the 12 other schools in our zone. Congratulations to you all for representing Ōwairaka, you were up against some very tough competition!
This year’s team consisted of Jasmine, Jack, Harper, Pablo, Phoenix, Michaela, Clemence, Isyss, Dolores, Lilymaina, Abigail, Beatrice, Finley, Xavier, Jaxon, Oscar, Blessing, Melina, Niko, Leo, and Hosanna.
Thanks to Whaea Kristie for stepping in to take the team at the last minute, and to our wonderful parents who helped support the athletes on the day.
The final results have been posted and Ōwairaka had a total of 16 points this year – well done!!
A big cheer goes out to these amazing athletes who placed in their events:
Super proud of you all, Maria.
Tomorrow is the big Athletics Day for our Year 3 – 6 tamariki. It will be held at Lovelock Track, starting at 9.45am and finishing at 2.15pm. The tamariki, staff and parent helpers will be walking to Lovelock Track at 9.05am. It is important for everyone to be at school before the 8.55am bell. When the bell goes everyone will be lining up on the hall court ready to leave.
Please check your child has a hat, shoes to run in, and something warm to wear if it gets cold or there is a rain shower. They also need 2 bottles of water to keep hydrated and healthy food to keep them going throughout the day. Sandwiches and fruit are a great source of carbohydrates that they will need.
Here is the schedule for the events. We will try to keep to these times as much as possible.
